Sharon 8th Grade Boys Win D1 State Championship
The Sharon 8th grade boys “A” basketball team ended their travel basketball careers in style on March 24th winning the Division 1 State Championship. The team completed a remarkable season with a 55-54 victory over a tough Foxboro squad in the title game. Sharon compiled a record of 29-7 including an 11-3 record in the ultra-competitive Division 1 of the Metrowest Basketball League. The team also won the Easton Muscato Holiday Tournament for the fourth time in five years. Over the course of five years of travel basketball, the team advanced to the state championship game three times and also played in three Metrowest League Division 1 title games. Members of the team include Michael Zola, Daniel Bender, Eric Ross, David Roelke, Matt Lowerre, Andrew Filipkowski, Alex Dubrow, Jordan Mello-Klein, Tyler Smith, Bryce Smith, Wesley Woodson, Coby Tippett, and Joey Dowler. Team coaches are Marc Filipkowski and Steve Dubrow.




Sharon 5th Grade Travel Wins D3 Championship
Congratulations to the 5th Grade Girls team for Winning the D3 Metrowest Championship! The Sheagles, as they call themselves, beat West Roxbury in a defensive battle scoring the winning layup with 3 seconds left.

Girls 8th Grade Travel Team Wins D2 Championship
Congratulations to the Sharon Travel 8th Grade Girls team for winning the D2 Championship! Having to overcome a season of injuries just in time for the playoffs the 2-10 team was seeded 16th in the D2 bracket and beat the #1 seed Walpole 44-34, #8 seed Bridgewater 36-31, #5 Bellingham 46-39 and the #10 seed Westboro in the Championship game 35-23. This is the second championship for this team having won the D2 title in 5th grade.

8th Grade Travel Team Wins 4th Muscato Title in 5 Years
The Sharon 8th grade boys "A" travel basketball team won the 2011 Easton Muscato Holiday Tournament for the 4th time in five years, defeating Easton 62-46 in the championship game at Stonehill College. Sharon defeated in succession Freetown/Lakeville, Hanover, and East Greenwich, RI to reach the title game. The team is now 13-2 overall and is tied for first place in Division 1 of the Metrowest League with a 3-0 record. 7th and 8th Grade Sharon Boys Score at Muscato Tournament
Both the 7th (pictured) and 8th grade boys travel teams won four games apiece, taking home the championship at the Muscato Tournament at Stonehill College over the holiday break. The 7th graders, coached by Todd Usen and Jon Modelevsky, scored double-digit wins throughout the tourney, with relentless defense, three-point shots, and excellent overall team play. Trio of Sharon Hoopsters Named to All-Star Team
On Saturday March 26, three of Sharon’s 8th grade travel players, Kristen Daley, Tatiana Thomas and Kyle Long were selected to play in the inaugural 2011 Select Hoops Showcase held at The Mansfield SportsPlex in Mansfield. MA. The M-Plex/Select Hoops Showcase is an invitation-only all-star game featuring the 25 best male and female 8th grade travel players in southeastern Massachusetts, including the Metrowest, Patriot, South Shore & Cape Cod Leagues. On the girls side, Kristen Daley from the Select Hoops team and Taite Thomas representing the M-Plex team both just completed their 5 year Sharon Travel careers. Both led their team over the last two seasons to back to back Divisional Championships which earned the team an invitation into the State Tournament each of the last two seasons. Kristen is a 4 time state champion and has also played on the national stage for the last 3 years at the AAU Nationals held in Disney each year in July. Kristen currently plays for the U13 Bay State Jaguars. Taite likewise plays AAU post travel for the Boston Showstoppers which is another Elite U13 team. On the boys side, Kyle, representing team Select Hoops, played on the Sharon Travel team all 5 years, leading the team in scoring each year. Kyle has played AAU basketball since the 3rd grade, including being a state runner-up as part of the Bay State Jaguars. Kyle currently plays for Mass Premier.

Sharon 7th Grade Boys Win Muscato Holiday Tournament
The Sharon 7th grade boys “A” travel team won the 2010 Easton Muscato Holiday Basketball Tournament on January 1st defeating host Easton 51-42 at Oliver Ames High School. To qualify for the championship game, Sharon defeated in succession Foxboro 49-30; Franklin 52-30; and North Attleboro 49-31. It was the team’s 3rd Muscato Tournament Championship in the past 4 years. The team is now 13-1 overall on the season and is currently in first place in Division 1 of the Metrowest League with a 4-0 record.
